Interested in making a difference in the lives of people with an intellectual disability?

Please consider joining the NHCIA Board!

NHCIA is a vibrant and responsive organization committed to the highest standards of professional service. Incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in 1965 NHCIA serves approximately 150 children, youth and adults with an intellectual disability in North Hastings and their families. The supports we offer are continually evolving in response to family, individual and community needs.

Members of the NHCIA Board of Directors are volunteers who represent a cross-section of our community including individuals who have an intellectual disability, family members, local business, service providers and interested community members.

According to the association's by-laws, all NHCIA Directors Must:

  • hold a membership in the Association

  • be over 18 years of age and a Canadian citizen

  • be able to commit to a four-year term on the Board

  • support the Association's Mission Statement and goals

Meetings are held once per month from September to June. In addition to monthly meetings, there may be additional committee work. Board members oversee and assist with fundraising initiatives, agency strategic planning, policy review and celebrations throughout the year.

Board members play an important role in ensuring that service quality, effective community partnering, and a positive reputation are safe-guarded and promoted throughout NHCIA and within our community.
