Evelyn and John Lock Bursary Award

This bursary was initiated by North Hastings Community Integration Association to honour the many contributions Evelyn and John Lock made to this community through their work and volunteer commitments. They were dedicated and tireless workers on behalf of people with disabilities, and as such, made the community a better place for everyone to live. They exemplified the spirit of volunteerism and genuine caring for others.

The Evelyn and John Lock Bursary of $300 is awarded annually at NHHS Spring Graduation Ceremonies to a student who has contributed significantly to the quality of life in this community through their volunteerism and who is also enrolled in a post-secondary education program related to a helping profession. .

To be eligible for this bursary, the applicant must:

  1. Be enrolled in a post-secondary education program and include with their application a letter of acceptance from College or University and verification of graduation from NHHS.

  2. Have contributed to the quality of life in North Hastings through their volunteer activities with a North Hastings organization, agency or group.

  3. Include a letter(s) of reference from above mentioned organization(s).

  4. Willing to sign a waiver allowing NHCIA to submit your name and/or photo to local newspaper(s) and NHCIA newsletter.

  5. Complete an application.

 Application submission deadline: May 31st (annually)

The Bursary winner will be selected by a panel consisting of:

  • NHCIA Executive Director or designate

  • One member of the NHCIA Board of Directors

  • NHHS Administration or Student Services representative when available
